May 25-27 Estonia, Tallinn, will host European Conference on HIV and AIDS “HIV in European Region – Unity and Diversity”. The conference will welcome attendees from the EU and across the WHO European Region.
The aim of the Conference is to provide a forum in which good practice, lessons learned and gaps in knowledge and successes, challenges, and innovations in HIV prevention are addressed.
More particularly, the Conference aims to:
Strengthen collaboration between government and civil society partners and facilitate an increased participation of civil society and community-based organizations in the HIV response.
Provide PLHIV community and representatives of key populations a possibility to interact with public health stakeholders thus improving their involvement in policy development and decision-making process.
The conference will concentrate on the following important issues specific to European Region:
HIV situation in European Region - key issues and main problems in epidemiologic situation with special focus on health systems approach to HIV prevention, treatment and care.
Legal aspects of HIV. Why have we failed in reducing the stigma?
Epidemiology of injecting drug use and related risk behaviors.
Prevention of HIV among men who have sex with men.
Adaptation to living with HIV.
Early diagnosis and uptake of HIV counseling and testing.
Impact of the HIV epidemic on TB and MDR-TB situation in the region.
Effective HIV prevention and care in prison setting.
Quality of the public health services in the field of HIV and AIDS – how to measure and improve.
Regional cooperation and networking.
The Conference expects to bring together political and community leaders, scientists and practitioners from across the Europe for productive, structured dialogue.
The Conference wishes to promote collaboration and synergy in the field of HIV and AIDS prevention, between policy makers, professionals and researchers, as well as between countries in the European region.

Scholarship application will be opened since February 1.
The official languages of the Conference are English and Russian. Simultaneous translation into Russian will be provided for most conference sessions. All Conference publications and materials will be provided in English and Russian.
